For those who love the look of joe-pye weed but have limited space Little Pye is the solution. It’s a very small dwarf variety that forms a dense, rounded mound topped with sprays of fragrant, airy pink flowers from late summer until well into fall. Butterflies, bees, and other pollinators love it, and in winter the interesting seed heads provide food for the birds. Plants tolerate a range of soils including clay, sand, and soggy but they like moist soil the best. Great for small beds and containers, it is also a good choice for a rain garden.
